The 24th year of the Ladies Annual Fish-Off will be held June 4 - 7 of 2009. This is one of the largest fishing tournaments in South Florida both by number of boats and anglers and is believed to be one of the largest and oldest ladies-only fishing tournaments in the world. This tournament has been getting bigger
and better every year. Once again, the tournament's major beneficiaries
will be the junior angler programs of the Billfish Foundation, along
with Kids In Distress, and the Children’s Home Society.
Over the past twenty-three years this event has raised more than $330,000.00 for our charities. The ladies who fish the tournament have put some serious trophy fish on the dock in recent tournaments, including a 57.7 pound Dolphin and a 77.2 pound Wahoo - impressive catches by anyone's standards!
The top ten boats and the top three lady anglers receive cash and prizes along with the top three largest fish in the five non-billfish categories. Top Family, Top Junior angler, Top Pee-wee angler and Top Captain prizes are also awarded, not to mention the always entertaining "hard-luck" award and new this year, the Biggest Bonito Prize. For those who have fished the tournament over the years, this may bring a smirk or two - we all know that the start of bonito season kicks off with the Ladies Annual Fish-off! For those who do not have access to a private boat we also offer a Drift Boat Division - see page for details.
As the name implies, only
lady anglers may enter, but men can join in the fun as captain and crew. They're also great for filleting the fish and washing the boat! So grab your favorite rods and let's get ready to have some fun!
